「とは言っても」「そうは言っても」は英語で？
「とは言っても」「そうは言っても」は英語で以下のように表現できます。
that being said
【意味】とは言っても、そうは言っても
having said that
【意味】とは言っても、そうは言っても
that said
【意味】とは言っても、そうは言っても
but still
【意味】とは言っても、そうは言っても
これらの表現は、直前に言った事と相反することを言う場合に用いられる、逆説の表現です。
that being said や having said that、that saidは逆説の表現以外にも、「といったっところで」という意味でも使われます。
この場合は、一旦、話を区切って会話を前に進める時の表現として使われます。
